From the book Radical Wisdom by Regi Campbell
Palestine was never a nation with a Palestinian government. It was an area where native Jews, Arabs and the conquering armies of Egypt, Persia, Rome, Crusading Christians, Arabia, Ottaman, and Britian ruled at one time or another. The Jews and Arabs of Palestine lived in sort of unsteady equilibrium through multiple millenniums, but neither had a country until the UN Charter in 1948 granted Israel their part of the partition, and the Arabs the other. The Arabs, after rejecting the Lord Peel Commission's Partition Plan ten years prior to 1948 and attacking the Jews, once again in 1948 rejected the land partitioned for them and attacked the Jews again. Under the articles of war, the Jews had a right to keep all the land conquered, but the Jews gave it back. This scenario has repeated itself many times since that 1948 charter and partition, the Arabs attack and the Jews beats them and gains territory. Each time they give it back. So, the truth is Palestinians have zero historical claim to the land the Jews now have.
