1/ The perception surrounding #rwot today and yesterday seems to be that those speaking out against the malicious intent behind the GIMS concert, scheduled for April 7th…the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi —are doing so simply because Congolese artists are performing on that date.

One thing the ‘International Community’ has in abundance is AUDACITY. Rwanda was left for dead 30 years ago under the watchful gaze of the same ‘International Community’ we’re told to delegate all matters of national security to. Fortunately, we’re better
students of history.

So much is becoming apparent from the conflict in the DRC.

1. the African state (nature and dynamics) is on trial
2. the need for a common African education system to nurture common baseline knowledge and common values is apparent
3. there cannot be lasting peace without 1&2. Neither can there be meaningful integration.
4. Africans cannot rely on the international system for security. On the contrary, it is a source of insecurity for Africa. All coming down to the motive of self interest in how individual states in that system behave.
5. Africans must abandon idealism when operating in an international system that operates on realism.
6. African lives are literally riding on these basic questions. Left unresolved Africans can only imagine a future through immigration to find safety from the countries for who this defective system works. For these countries the challenge of immigration will be chickens coming home to roost.
7. In short, in the long term view of things, it is in the interest of the winners and losers of this international system to reject it (the latter) and to reform it (the former).

Why, because in the end there will not be winners in the real sense.
