As preparation for the 1948 London Olympics, the Chinese national team toured Asia, before arriving at Calcutta as their last stop before London where on 14 July 1948, East Bengal defeated them 2—0 with goals from M. Apparao and P.B.A. Saleh.

East Bengal club played twice against Swedish teams: Helsingborgs IF and IFK Göteborg, right after Sweden won Gold 🥇 in 1948 London Olympic Games in football and finished third 🥉 in 1950 World Cup in Brazil. Sweden also won Bronze 🥉 in 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games.
