In the early hours of Saturday, we witnessed the implementation of the first step in our pursuit to restore sanity to the Kano State Urban Development Masterplan.

With the demolition of the illegal structure at the Race Course playground, we have set in motion to reclaim all encroached land on the identified public places that were used to erect illegal structures by private individuals or groups.

I have also directed the demolition of all the illegally erected structures in schools, mosques, play-grounds, graveyards, markets and hospitals, to ensure strict adherence on the urban planning, beautification and safety of people.

We call on the residents of Kano to exercise patience as our administration is committed to ensuring a prosperous Kano. - AKY

Abba Kabir Yusuf: A Promising Start

Not long ago, we were fed lies that H.E. Abba Kabir Yusuf was an unfit leader, unworthy of leading Kano. Today, the opposition has shifted their tune, now claiming he is too harsh. However, just as the Quran states, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed falsehood, by nature, is ever bound to depart." The truth has indeed emerged. Abba Kabir Yusuf is not only competent, but he is also a compassionate leader who remains true to his words and takes decisive action.

Under the previous administration, Kano had become a breeding ground for thieves and criminals. The inadequate handling of criminals, particularly drug addicts, allowed them to flourish. However, one of Abba's first actions upon assuming office was to visit the correctional facility in the state. He recognized the importance of having an effective correctional system to combat this menace.

The water system, left in disarray by the previous administration, led to a severe water shortage in the state. Governor Abba personally inspected the malfunctioning facilities that contributed to the system's failure and promptly ordered their immediate repair.

According to Daily Nigerian, the previous administration had sold off all garbage trucks to their own family members. The city was left in such a mess that Governor Abba had to hire tippers to clear the waste.

Governor Abba's administration has seized government-owned lands and buildings, including schools, the hajj camp, and other public places, which were illicitly sliced and sold off to unauthorized individuals. These deals were conducted in an improper manner.

In less than a week, the city's dysfunctional streetlights have been fixed under Governor Abba's leadership.
Governor Abba has accomplished remarkable feats in his first week in office, which are nearly impossible to fully detail in a single article. The examples mentioned above suffice to prove that he differs from what the opposition claimed.

I would like to advise those who are being paid or voluntarily spreading damaging rumors about this administration. Understand that it will never be worthwhile. Allah has declared war against anyone who stands against the truth. It is acceptable to criticize clearly wrong actions, as Governor Abba is not infallible. However, there are those who oppose even policies clearly intended for the betterment of the state. These individuals are the lowest of the low (Asfala Safilin). As Socrates said, "the worst of people are those who dislike the good and present the bad as the better cause."

Finally, I congratulate the people of Kano for having a government committed to the state's development. It won't be smooth sailing throughout the entire tenure, but they should offer Abba the support he needs and be grateful. As our Lord stated in Surah Ar-Rahman, "Is there any reward for good other than good?" We believe that Abba is good and is working for the state's benefit. Now it is the citizens' turn to reciprocate with goodness by supporting him, come rain or shine.

May Allah aid H.E. Abba Kabir Yusuf and the people of Kano. Amin.
