Buenas tardes, amigos.
Tras unos meses sin novedades en el frente, hoy os presento una nueva entrega del África decimonónica.
Hoy, el mapa del África Ecuatorial, en el año 1880, justo antes del "Reparto de África".
Espero que os guste.
1938, a village in Zamora. The Civil War has taken every man of fighting age to the front. A film crew from Burgos shows up. What they capture is one of the strangest anthropological documents to survive the war.
An old woman dressed in black, the village's ROMANCERA (its ballad-keeper), opens by telling the camera that the shepherd who normally recites the opening verse "can't come; he's at the front." Then she hands the song off, line by line, to whoever's left: a poor widow, a mother with three small kids, a group of women spinning wool.
The ballad is an archaic Spanish variant of Mambrú se fue a la guerra ('Marlborough is going off to war', from the French Malbrough s'en va-t-en guerre), an 18th-century song about a duke who never made it home, still being sung from memory two hundred years later, unscripted, by women whose own husbands hadn't made it home yet either.
compro una cosa, me envían algo que no es, y encima me cobran por devolverlo si no voy personalmente a la puta tienda cuando es error suyo. menuda mierda todo.
1900 vs 2026:
Head of Leshan Giant Buddha,in SW China’s Sichuan Province.
Built between 713-803, carved out of a cliff, 233 feet tall.
The largest and tallest stone Buddha statue in the world, and by far the tallest pre-modern statue in the world.
Another musician giving a classical instrument completely different energy. Alexander Boldachev takes the harp out of the 'angelic ballads only' box.
Exactly the kind of fresh spin I love.
Fantastic sighting of six Ethiopian wolves, possibly the rarest large carnivore in #Africa. The Senetti plateau, Bale NP is simply breathtaking! And to the see these long legged rusty predators hunting giant mole rats and or just chilling beneath Giant Lobelias was breathtaking.
Counterpoint: Dante's Odysseus ends up in hell for transgressing the limits set by God, but his greatness is that he does not repent from his insatiable lust for exploration, does not betray his desire even when the price is damnation. THIS I like.. not “happiness” or “salvation”
