@richardmarcj@WalkerMarcus My personal observation, and particularly recalling the very mixed efforts I witnessed as a student in the 1980s, is that the standard of teaching has, generally, improved considerably. Inspiration - fabulous when it happens, consistent competence - better.
@richardmarcj@WalkerMarcus Yes I heard a lot of this sort of thing in my 35yr career in HE, usually from people who thought teaching beneath them and that they should be excused it on account of their important (often mediocre) research. I’m sure you’re an excellent teacher but ..1/2
