@saltyreigns It was a kamikaze on someone else's behalf. Someone else who pussied out at the last second and let Penk take the fall. Penk had nothing to gain, he is in a safe electorate (popular MP) immune to Nats collapsing party vote.Sad for the country.
@saltyreigns I don't think so. Ego is paramount in politics...Labour think they're the natural leaders of the Left, long history of the movement etc. I expect they hate them in the same way that National behind close doors hates NZF.
@MarkHubbard33@NZGreens@top_nz TOP looking like a master stroke as it's collapsing vote for Labour. And to think it was the right who were ringing the alarm bells initially.
@SitaraWrites Youth unemployment is high in NZ because traditional youth jobs are being taken by 20-something Indian immigrants. I see examples all the time - new Indian owner buys the local burger joint, suddenly all staff are Indian. Ethnic wedge.
@INArteCarloDoss Agree completely - markets that force participants to factor in uncertainty are more resilient. Faux stability encourages overleverage and moral hazard.
@MarkHubbard33 The insider selling is simply a result of the fact that long time owners have already created generational wealth out of the company. Why wouldn't you want to cash out at a $50bn valuation when you are probably 100x or more? Time to go buy some toys.
@saltyreigns Something is so fishy about this story. I reckon it was a Nat concocted plan to troll him into screwing up, hurting NZF. Finlayson so quick to release private correspondence.
@Infideliter2022@NZGreens We should be able to produce power at close to zero marginal cost in NZ (hydro/solar/geo), and no shortage of water. IMO rock bottom energy prices enable all sorts of economic activity. If the opposite happens, industry shuts down e.g. all the sawmills closing right now.
