We’re all acting surprised and I don’t like it.
The films they act, have they ever shown you that they have sense? They make DV victims return to their husbands, make abused women and children forgive their abusers, why would they have a different worldview in person?
The world is very hostile to women and very unsafe for them. Nobody has any right to tell women to abandon the labels and ideologies that make them feel safe, from a place of self righteousness and blind privilege. It's a brand of wickedness I will always aggressively fight.
i LOVE a reference.
reference a book, a song, a film, whatever in your work. show everyone that nothing exists in a vacuum, we all are connected in our experiences, and someone's telling about it helped articulate yours.
I really wish Nigerian women were bolder in some aspects. When we’re sourcing guests with life experiences, we’ve found that women are a lot more reticent to speak on camera. Still at it sha.
Our language around governance is so interesting in Nigeria. We talk like when someone wins an election, the money and resources of the state become their personal largesse and any progress or work that happens is because they’re kind enough to “dash” us.
I know the Nicene creed by heart. Apostle’s creed, not so much. They’re actually pretty similar but I grew up saying the Nicene creed regularly so that’s the one that stuck. It’s so surprising to me when I hear believers say they don’t know the Nicene/Apostle’s creed.
