sculptures by Gwon Osang, from his Deodorant Type series. ‘deodorant’ as in masking one thing with another (like deodorant covering one smell with another), and ‘type’ as in an old photographic process. the method is basically taking photographs of a person from different angles and piecing them back together into a 3D version of them. so the simulacra-ish logic is: you’re looking at a sculpture made out of images, pretending to be the thing while being a copy built from copies of the original.
