How to apologize like a man.

1. Take responsibility. Even if you are only 1% at fault, you are 100% responsible for that 1%.

2. State what you did in clear, direct language. Say you are sorry.

3. Make restitution as soon as you can. Sometimes, words are enough. Many times, they aren't and you need to make things right in another way.

4. Have zero expectations for the other person's reaction. Don't wait around for them to apologize, as if you were a lost puppy. It might happen. It might not. Don't demand forgiveness, either. That's on them. If you're apologizing just to get something in return, it wasn't a true apology.
