how you could've figured out @papertrade_xyz well ahead of launch
1. papertrade had 2-3 testnet deploys that were very public. You could
a. decompile the contract (guess function sigs by hashing different inputs)
b. figure out that the relayer had size then FCFS priority by looking at landed transactions then reverse-eng the relayer implementation (because the test instance didn't vary expiry of submitted txs)
c. figure out exactly what tx shape you had to send the relayer
this allowed you to figure out
1. you had to submit 10m orders
2. you had to be fast
you could easily guess infra was in tokyo and you could send the same tx with repeat nonces multiple times and only one would be included.
2. in the previous deployments there was a 5m OI cap and a keeper that raised OI caps by only 5m per block
- this meant being fast after OI caps raised was important
- so read latency was important (ie. you could've run your own non-validating hype node)
3. the docs clearly outlined deadband + fees per price band. Therefore you could build volatility dependent trading that
a. took higher lev trades during low vol and closed faster
b. took lower lev trades during high vol and closed on bigger moves
these could bring your blended cost down
4. everything else was reaction on first day
a. did you adjust strategy based on 150m pre-deposits therefore making it clear being early was paramount?
b. were you willing to lose commensurate amount by having a view on what total trader losses would be as a % of predeposits?
c. did you adjust leverage and position closing based on low volatility on the weekend
d. did you have a thesis on how sticky flow would be and therefore farm longer than some of the guys that only traded day 1
anyway just random thoughts as a bystander from the discourse that i see about it on X.
PAPER is now trading 24/7 on Hyperliquid.
$PAPER is the native token of @papertrade_xyz, a synthetic perpetuals platform on HyperEVM, minted to traders from realized losses and stakeable for a share of platform fees. The contract trades as a Pre-Launch perp that converts to a normal perp.
The cheapest PAPER can ever be made is about $0.0012. Below that, farmers stop farming, so it works as a soft floor. A careful hedged farmer pays a bit more, somewhere between $0.0013 and $0.0016
my rough fundamental estimate sits around $0.002. That’s the USDC each new PAPER brings stakers when most of the volume comes from real degens. Every $1 a degen loses adds roughly $0.18 to the LP and $0.018 in fees, and mints 98 PAPER
