The value of cryptocurrencies lies in the technology that is used during storage and transactions. The technology and data are also decentralized. Transactions are recorded in a decentralized ledger which contains an immutable history of all transactions.
The first real-world bitcoin transaction was a pizza purchase on May 22, 2010, from Papa John’s, for 10,000 BTC. The pizzas were valued at $25 at the time. Today, those pizzas would be worth nearly $140 million.
