The most non-technical #Bitcoin multi-factor security (128-bit secure)...
Split 24 seed words in two, and separate each half.
Plate 1 = words 1-12
Plate 2 = words 13-24
Store multiple copies of the plates in separate locations.
NEVER store plates 1 and 2 together!
π+π=π
I used to get frustrated by broken systems, but then I read the following quote...
"Every system is perfectly designed to get the result that it does"
- W. Edwards Deming
If we aren't happy with the results of a system, we need to move to a system that gives us better results.
@JM_speakss@nostrnaut The problem with paper is that it degrades slowly in the right environment, and quickly in the wrong environment.

@depbit Dividing 12 words in two is a very bad idea. π―
It's too easy to work out the remaining 6 words.
Dividing 24 words in two can be a good idea, but only if you store them in separate locations AND have multiple backups to prevent catastrophic loss of one half is lost or stolen.
If you're worried about someone discovering your #Bitcoin seed words, then think about removing the single point of failure.
1. Split 24 seed words in two
(1-12 + 13-24)
or
2. Use seed words + passphrase
or
3. Multisig devices/seed words
NB. Always store in separate locations.
What causes inflation?
Everyone needs to understand this!

It's probably nothing, but we are currently selling 24-word #Bitcoin backup plates faster than we can make them.
If you're happy to use 12-word plates, we're offering a good discount at the moment to manage our stock-to-flow.
For the rest of the month we are offering a bulletproof deal...
50% discount when you purchase two or more 12-word plates.

@willywoo@cryptofergani In reality, the market cap is not the total money invested, it's simply the last price Γ current total supply of coins. The last trade revalues every coin instantly, and so to double the price in reality, buyers might need hundreds of billions of buying pressure, not trillions.
An idea... π€
The price of bearer assets (#gold, #silver, #Bitcoin) could be suppressed in the run-up to a CBDC rollout.
ie. Discourage most people from buying until it's too late...
When the tide turns, it's going to be extremely difficult for those who didn't stack.
@adam3us@willywoo Isn't quantum computing irrelevant if the public key is never revealed?
ie. never been spent from a Bitcoin address.
Shorβs algorithm can't break ECDSA solving the discrete logarithm problem if the public address is unknown.
Am I missing something?
Genuine question. π
Counterintuitively, this provides more security than most BIP39 passphrases.
The remaining 12 words could be up to 2,048^12 possible combinations (128-bit secure).
The main disadvantage of this method, is that it relies on the integrity of the seed phrase.

Whenever you're doing anything with #Bitcoin, or talking about Bitcoin, or anything private, or anything else...
Put your phone in a Faraday Bag β
It could prevent:
1. Leaking your seed words/passwords
2. Sharing private info with spyware
3. Distractions from notifications
