Research and writing @thousandeyes. Co-host of #TheInternetReport. I write about Internet performance, DNS, BGP, and other topics. TCK. Tweets are my own.
Had a great time at @nanog in SF last week presenting on the network performance of @Azure@awscloud @GCPcloud @IBMcloud and @alibaba_cloud. Give a shout to me or @archana_k7 if you have questions or suggestions for future research coverage. #NANOG78

@cciechaz@danieldibswe@thousandeyes For the cloud backbone connectivity, endpoints on either side were inside the cloud provider, not outside, but still good cloud network vs ISP comparison.
@cciechaz@danieldibswe@thousandeyes We've looked at cloud backbone performance (region to region) and compared to ISP connectivity between similarly located endpoints, looking at latency, packet loss and jitter. Report here: https://t.co/hlgWLZg4go
@Badger_Fi@thousandeyes@nunesvic Looking this morning, all 5 NTP servers (IPv4) are reachable, so appears fiber cut is no longer impacting NIST pop in MD.
@ajklopp@thousandeyes We did see the same withdrawals for the IPv6 prefixes covering their DNS nameservers. The list of withdrawn routes (including IPv6) is in the blog post updated this morning.
FB's statement on the outage perfectly aligns with what we reported on our blog (and that no one else has highlighted) - their backbone network went down first. That’s why we saw receive errors BEFORE DNS went down and even after DNS came back up.

What a week for @thousandeyes ! But we've saved the best for last. By combining observability with the most technologically advanced absurdability, we've delivered the industry's only full-stack, full-sense, and full-of-it observability solution. https://t.co/gx70lJkgbZ
A Vision of Where Networking is Headed with @Cisco and ThousandEyes >> tune in to @bitprints and @NetworkingNerd at @GestaltIT for a conversation on network visibility and how you ensure remote employees can reliably connect to the services they need: https://t.co/xv5bdVDguX
Last week Telstra had a #BGP mishap that impacted @ProtonMail@Quad9DNS and others. Here's an interactive link showing how the incident impacted Quad9 when Telstra started announcing routes to their service.

Deep dive on the Centurylink/Level 3 outage. Lots of lessons to take away on the complexities of Internet routing and specific actions their customers could have taken to reduce outage impact.

Big outages last week. @archana_k7 and I go deep on the IXP outage, plus our guest expert discusses TLS certs, the role of browser providers, and why we're seeing more outages related to expired certs.

Great discussion between Ray Hunter and Mike Hicks on the differences between traditional and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satcomms. #InternetReport
