To some of us who often find ourselves voicing complaints and expressing discontent only when there is a noticeable delay in the disbursement of upkeep funds, it is essential to also cultivate a sense of appreciation for the efforts of Nelfund's Managing Director and the renewed hope that the government brings whenever we receive an alert about our financial support. It feels somewhat unjust to remain silent when our expectations are met and our needs are fulfilled. Therefore, I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to @officialABAT for the unwavering support and dedication shown. Thank you for your efforts! 🙏

Moreover, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Managing Director of Nelfund on behalf of all Nigerian students who are beneficiaries of this initiative. Without your commitment and vision, many of us would have faced the grim reality of dropping out of school. Just imagine the anticipation that students feel, eagerly awaiting alerts as if we were workers expecting our salaries! It brings to mind the story of Oliver Twist, always asking for more, and I find myself echoing that sentiment as I advocate for further improvements for Nigerian students through @nelfund.

I sincerely hope that the government will consider initiatives that empower students to launch their own businesses immediately after graduation, tailored to their fields of study. Such initiatives could play a crucial role in alleviating poverty and reducing our dependence on government jobs. Self-employment not only fosters individual growth but also creates opportunities for others to find employment through various agencies. By investing in the entrepreneurial spirit of students, we can pave the way for a brighter future, where innovation and self-sufficiency thrive, ultimately benefiting the entire nation.

These are relevant degree courses up to tomorrow. From a cost-benefit analysis point of view, they offer the best successful outcomes against time and money spent in a university. I may have missed one or two. But not much.

Political science, languages and linguistics, sociology, philosophy, library science, public administration, and mass communication are okay to read for just a few people. But when hundreds of thousands study these courses in a country with few opportunities for such areas of specialisation, you may want to tread softly.

The point is that many courses now offered by many universities are obsolete. According to research from the Pew Institute, some universities only offer such courses to raise their income. Many, including Oxford and Cambridge, are shutting down some out-of-date departments.

Instead of spending $20,000 and four years to read a course irrelevant to modern life, you are better off taking a six to one-year course and learning a marketable on-demand skill. Please don't insult me. It is just the reality.
