My brother bought a car in the US, and it arrived in Nigeria a few days ago. We went to pick it up earlier this morning, but we were told he had to pay $35k in clearance fees. They said it wasn’t supposed to be that much, but because we delayed picking it up, they added another $5k as a storage/space fee.

He ended up paying the full $40k they requested, but honestly, I’m confused and a bit skeptical. Is this actually how car clearance works in Nigeria, or does it sound like we may have been overcharged?

As a Muslim, I laugh when Muslims tell non-Muslims, "Relax, Sharia is only for Muslims."

But then reality gets in the way.

Non-Muslims have been told not to eat publicly during Ramadan. Businesses have been restricted from selling alcohol. Trucks carrying alcohol have been seized and destroyed. Hotels, bars and recreation centres have been shut down for violating Sharia-based rules. Non-Muslims have even faced prosecution for blasphemy.

And yet we still tell non-Muslims, "Sharia is only for Muslims."

How does that make sense?

Once religious rules are enforced through the state, they no longer affect only the people who believe in them. They affect everyone living under that law.

So let's stop selling non-Muslims a watered-down version of Sharia just to make them comfortable.

If we are going to defend Sharia, at least have the honesty to defend what it actually looks like when it is enforced.

This is not hard to understand, Every letter in the bible, from Old to New Testament points to the downfall of man and how God mercies saved man by sacrificing Jesus. Paul simply preached the Gospel of Christ and I think Paul did more evangelism amongst the apostles

I have made up mind I’m no more employing a Nigerian for any handy man job in my house in the UK 🇬🇧 anymore. Experience is the best teacher.

I changed some carpets few months ago in my house and I decided to use a Nigerian as he was recommended from a friend, the guy finished changing carpets and left the old carpets in my house. My wife called him to come and carry it , he said it’s not his job to carry the old carpets. He didn’t do a great job as well. How will you change the carpets in my house and decide that it’s not your job to carry the old carpets?

Two months ago, I used an English (White) man to change my boiling system, despite the old one being a big boiler the white guy carried all the old boilers system and dispose them himself. I didn’t even tell him. By the way, he did a great job for me.

Last month , I decided to change the floor in the entrance of my house, I used a white English man, he removed the old floors, put the new floors on and brought his van to take away all the old floors in my house. In fact he assisted to remove some old stuffs in my house as well without extra charges.

Why is Nigerian’s own different?

I have vouch NEVER to use a Nigerian handy man for my house handy jobs anymore.
