@Leonard48853116@saylor@Strategy They are struggling with something they probably thought had an infinitesimal probability of happening. but that doesn't make them grifters.
@Leonard48853116@saylor@Strategy A bit harsh I'd say, and I'm far from being a fan of what they're doing. The most recent halving was April 2024, and they have bought nearly twice the amount of all bitcoin mined in this time. Unprecedented, I doubt anyone seriously thought there could be a bear market anymore.
@robin_linus Bottom line is if he has a new idea or a twist on an old idea next week that makes Bitcoin 3.4% better money (objectively) than it is today, he's still incentivised to disseminate it, and the community is still incentivised to accept it, source of idea matters not.
@warlockbtc You've made a compelling case as to why users should not dive in with everything they have into a single product so sophisticated and complex on its first month or first year or maybe even first decade after its initial release, and that probably goes for any other h/w device.
@jimmysong I will feel way more secure about self custody 2 weeks from now than I did two weeks ago, and way way more secure two months from now, because the amount of eyeballs and retesting and retesting and retesting some more gonna exponential now, isn't that the anti-fragile way?
@theinstagibbs Man, to understand the inner workings of bitcoin to this depth, and to choose not to disclose but to grab instead. Long long jail time waiting for this type of screwed up person if caught, fingers crossed they get 'em.
@Rekt_City_Bitch@AdamBLiv This. Or in words that can be more easily understood...Bitcoin went from $30 to $250 after the Cyprus bank haircuts in 2013, when the value of holding your own funds became very clear to many. Of course after Mt. Gox a few months later things became even clearer.
@sandeepstarmd@IIICapital If that's all there was then btc price would yo-yo up and down during risk on and risk off cycles, or rotate to the latest hot thing (quantum, ai, new coin that crushes bitcoin away, etc.) so a more erratic rotation. There's no component in the price to make it go up long term.
@Swan Of all the little sayings and gospels and memes about bitcoin, this one has probably the biggest gap between sounding good, and actually moving someone to buy one. I doubt any millionaire has ever bought one for this reason, unless it was like the 28th reason on the list.
@AlexesNakamoto@phongle No evidence that the bitcoin market likes this or wants this, in fact quite the contrary, which is in line with theoretical reasons why distributed decentralized networks accrue value.
@saylor I think Mike is 9 years behind and should review the NY agreement of 2017 where supporters had 83% of hash rate and more than 20 million wallets supporting them and couldn't get their changes through, lesson being money talks but nodes talk much louder in this space.
@Strategy BTC doesn't have to go up if you f*ck up the network. It almost didn't go up since previous ATH in 2021, except the 50/50 proposition (Sept. 2024) of Trump vs. Kamala went bitcoins way, else you would have seen 4.5+ years without a new ath, and no end in sight.
@dr_orlovsky Lesser of evils. And surprise (not)! The market has stabilized and even drifted up since Strategy announced they've allocated for some $1.4 billion in BTC sales, and then actually started selling.
@billyrestey This like joke. In Israel army was hard battle. Commander says has good news and bad news. Good news as reward troops will get to change underwear. But also bad news, Shmuel you change with Motti, Jacob you change with Solomon...hahaha. Now Udi, you change with Billy, ha ha ha.
@LeonidasNFT Again and again and again, people who like both bitcoin and doodoo art won't doodoo where they eat, and new people don't hold their own keys, your market consists of almost no one, your future market will consist of no one.
@stephanlivera Still...if you made the mistake of buying bitcoin at the top in previous cycles, the mantra was wait 4 years and you'll never be down again. Also add to that $69k in 2021 has the buying power of $83k today, so bitcoin has more than $20k less buying power than nearly 5 years ago.
@natbrunell@LukeGromen He will be in denial when the hockey stick moment begins and not buy in. An example is 2017 when bitcoin broke to 7k in Nov. and many experts sold, only to see it get to $19k a month later. He has raised the probability that this will happen to him on a much grander scale.
@nopara73 In his world gold is nearly unFUDable, other than saying there are secret mines holding as much gold as there is supply today, or they[re about to grab an asteroid and mine it. But the price you pay for being unFUDable is 2x gains are worthy of dancing your best dance.
