I teach Middle School OCIA and tell the kids “ Jesus saw you do the sin, you don’t have to relate the story, just name the sin”. The beauty of Reconciliation is that we have to slow down and reflect on our behavior and identify things in which we failed to live up to our values, then name them and ask for forgiveness

I think part of the problem is that Nolan put traditional Judeo-Christian morals in there, which were not normal values held by Greeks and Romans then. People died in huge numbers, which was their natural fate, a general would not have worried about them. Also, if they were hungry why didn’t they just fish, hello, they were on a huge sea filled with food!
