continued proof that “cancel culture”, “accountability culture”, “woke culture”, WHATEVER y’all call the internet mob nonsense you do, was never about creating a better world, it was always about getting to bully and punish people for eternity because it makes you feel superior.
if you do not allow people to redeem themselves within society, there is no incentive to make better choices. additionally, you create a standard of perfection that cannot breed community or companionship (humans aren’t perfect), and a standard you yourself will fail to meet.
The internet is getting more filled with slop/hate/AI-generated fakery, and young people are turning more to religion/no social media/tech-free lives.
The internet is, in effect, killing itself in its pursuit of more eyeballs. Enshittification at a global scale.
It's fun to watch.
The loss of old Internet habits such as fandom specific forums, zines, journals, websites, etc. and the creation of social media is contributing to the breakdown between fandom culture and mainstream culture.
the internet breathes insecurity and competitiveness. people do things based on how they think others will see them, they people please, they do and say what’s in or what’s cool, they buy what’s trendy and that’s the problem. people need to care less about other peoples opinions and do more of what they want, wear what they think is cute and live their lives how they want to 🤍
the way the internet has made everyone believe their opinion holds value on every subject and in every conversation, has done irreparable damage to society.
many people shouldn’t (and don’t in real life) even have access to the folk they try and provoke or go back and forth with on the daily.
Unpopular opinion: I think social media has absolutely destroyed our generation’s ability to be truly happy. We’re always seeing someone else who we think has it better than us, and it makes us feel like what we have isn’t good enough.
UNPOPULAR OPINION: gender-neutral language often ends up erasing women, not empowering them. when “mother” becomes “birthing parent,” it’s not inclusive, it’s dehumanizing.
Unpopular opinion:
If someone says they don't want kids, don't try to convince them otherwise. the world doesn't need more bad parents that don't want their kids because societal pressures made them feel like they had to become a parent regardless of other life plans.
