I have been trying out this coffee from Jambi lately. This one’s roasted by Hana Roastery and the beans came from Abdul Aziz Thohari’s Rukun Saudara farm in Gunung Tujuh, Kerinci, Jambi (he is azizarabikakerinci on Instagram).
I had no idea at first but turns out Jambi is very well known as a producer of coffee with different variants available due to its geography. The Kerinci area in particular produces great Arabica coffee (like this one) due to its high altitude.
Unlike most filter coffee I have tried, this one took quite a bit of waiting time (I think at least a month after its roast date) before it brings out its full flavor. Apparently this is common with lactic natural processed coffee.
But once it’s ready, it’s quite lovely. It tasted soft and almost silky, with a gentle strawberry-ish acidity.
I’m excited to try more Kerinci coffee from different roasteries now to see how it goes. If you’re brewing yourself or enjoy visiting local cafes, try them out!
(As an aside, maybe it might be fun to explore and review coffee from different regions where JKT48 members come from as well, I’ll see if I can do it)
