In 2024, President William Ruto took up the project and ensured that construction commenced. Today, the Ilasit–Njukini Road is nearing completion, bringing the long-awaited project closer to reality for the people of Taita Taveta.

The key question remains: where exactly is the KSh 5.3 billion allocated in 2020, and what happened to the funds before construction eventually began?
