I already wrote this once: Libyan boy scouts are the best. A small group of them (60) from across the country are still here in Derna helping clear buildings. The take weekly shifts. One came from as far as Ubari. Local youth is also helping clean the streets. Admirable work🌹

The book “Human Trafficking in Libya” in print on the table. Great assistance by publisher Bamenda in Cameroon. They did once again an amazing job. You will find 790 pages of detailed and precise analysis on slavery perpetrated today.
2) Peace by power-sharing among the most violent actors = injustice to victims and non-violent competitors. Let's not forget who risked their lives protesting non-violently against Bashir, and those who organise right now to distribute food, water, medicine and information. 2/2
Recall with melancholy the peaceful times in beautiful Khartoum. Two thoughts for internationals: 1) Evacuate your people, but let that not be the main/only objective. Let it be the beginning, not the end of international concern w Sudanese (quote by @MuzanAlneel). 1/2
📢Our April Research Update, which includes recent publications on #SouthSudan, including on conflict in Upper Nile, the effects of water-related threats, and land tenure formalisation in Western Equatoria, is just out!

I spent big chunk of my childhood there, played football w/my cousins there, hanged out around the market and had tea, food, till late evenings. Buildings can be rebuilt but wonder if such harm can be ever reversed
📸= arrivals in Aweil #SouthSudan today fleeing #Darfur violence 👉‼️ >90% of people arriving in #SouthSudan from #Sudan = #SouthSudan nationals 👉 Sudan houses 800,000 refugees + 300,000 registered & 10,000s unregistered migrants from South Sudan 👉 many likely aiming to return
Despite high-level calls for an Eid ceasefire, clashes have continued in #Sudan, especially in Khartoum.
Civilians are increasingly fleeing areas affected by fighting.

I will be especially interested to see: 1) the @IntlCrimCourt's answer to the jurisdictional question, and 2) responses in South Sudanese leaders, judiciary, and 'common people'. I will be watching @RadioTamazuj, @EyeRadioJuba , and @RadioMiraya . 8/8
Interesting development to watch: @GRC_HumanRights has filed a case with the @IntlCrimCourt Prosecution Office against South Sudanese officials for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. 1/8
Also: the ICC has received sustained criticism in Africa and beyond. Is it biased? Breaching sovereignty? Ineffective? Hampering peace? See @CFR_org https://t.co/yDqlLDyPrS 7/8
