@joezwin@money_cruncher Get real. You do not handle working class tax returns, EIC and CTC are not enough to cover the cost of raising kids. Do smaller sole props expense to take advantage of this? yes. Are they doing it to look poor. Eff no. When it's rich corporations we call that being tax smart.
@Taxguy33962 built a gpt to scope and ballpark price 1040d. Base prompt and then resources with various pricing factors etc. depending on how cut and dry your pricing is it's doable. built a second one to give a checklist for Stanford tax for first year clients.
@FortWayneCPA Would be curious to see how the stats of percentage of the housing market owned by corporations & 10+ property investors correlates to this.
@justinmilleresq Go ahead and rifle through your documents and just send me the ones you think matter. Share half of them with me on your google drive as heic if you could. And then text me 2 or 3 and email the rest to my admin from a new email with no explanation.
@loganallec I'm uncomfortable with FA/CFPs understanding of what the value of ALL IRA accounts on 12/31 means for backdoor Roth strategy. Also with having clients invest small amounts in PTPs.
#TaxTwitter constantly remind each other: education system failed EVERYONE. Most clients have no idea about taxes and are scared of the deadline. Be patient out there folks. Are we stretched too thin and cranky, yes. Are they scared shitless of an extension, probably also yes.
@FortWayneCPA No. He still does not know what a tariff is. It is one of those Great words. And the loyalist to him are too busy appeasing him and his ego to push back on the idiocy of the whole deal. But yes indeed China will pay and you and I will be out of jobs Mike. Gee dang.
@shrikex0r@4nt1p4tt3rn Consider the person grossing 80k who does the same math on their net pay before you whine. They could have afforded to make a house payment, fill the freezer, get health insurance. The system is the problem. We should incentivize labor more than capital in this country. #ToneDeaf
@girdley To all the people touting the IRS transcript system: why do we have 8949 boxes B,C,E and F. Also the state level data on any and all forms the and basis data on the K-1s. Under current tax law the annual track down will never cease.
@fedup5766 @jayjaylift@LeadingReport Could let them subtract away a bare minimum (call it a standard deduction) and then tax them a % of what's left. As they make more, won't need as much of amount over the minimum so tax more once they reached a certain amount. add loopholes and gotchas and call it a tax system.
@fedup5766 @jayjaylift@LeadingReport Basic costs of survival eat up a larger % of a lower income persons budget leaving them less income to pay taxes with. If we made every expense a flat % of income than sure a flat tax works (socialism?). But groceries and housing are far from a flat %. Flat tax is regressive.
@andreacpa0 I'd even settle for being able to fax in an electronic signed 2848 somedays. Yes I could upload it and wait for it to post to my CAF. Yes they have gotten faster about processing. No I don't want to wait for it if I have the time to talk now.
@MikeSyl36625988 Aside: as a father of a teenage girl I could never vote Trump or RFK. I love my daughter way too much to look her in the eye after that.
@MikeSyl36625988 Mike, curious what policy makes VP Harris too progressive for you? You'll get your wish with a VP candidate that gives you confidence. You'll also get your wish with the debate. As a father, a believer in democracy, and person of character: I'm with her.
@TheNFTCPA I had to use their video recovery page this morning. Recorded 3 tax return reviews and emailed links out. All 3 took client to a page with a spinning box that wouldn't go away. After recovery they all 3 work.
