The 2022 baseball recruiting class got screwed from the start.

They walked into the NIL explosion, fought for playing time behind COVID super-seniors, navigated nonstop transfer chaos, and didn’t even have full scholarships until THIS YEAR.

Now the new 5-to-play-5 rule gives every younger class a full extra season while they get cut off at 4.

Fair fix: True 4th-year seniors deserve ONE optional 5th year at their current school only. No transferring for the extra year.

The Frosh class that entered in 2022 got no COVID year, walked into a backlog of players who did—and now gets hit again because the NCAA and members waited until after the portal to act. Unfair, but right on brand.

@PeteThamel I get the 'if you've used up your eligibility, you've used it up' argument, but the 2022 class that has used it up is different than the 2021 or 2020 that have used it up. They can implement the rule by saying 'effective for high school graduating class of 2022 and later'
