Today I had to tell a HS senior (who’s about to be a music major at a prominent university) to get off his phone during rehearsal. College profs, I know you’ve seen a little of the “COVID effect” in students, but I promise there’s lots more comin’.
I strongly believe that everyone should spend time living in a region outside of where they grew up. As a former NY-er going on 20+ years in the south the comments I still get! Whew! No, I promise I did not grow up with riots, burning buildings, or purple haired protesters. 🤦🏻♀️
Last, if one person perceives themselves as the one who has “won,” that sort of prevents any opposing dialog or room for further understanding or growth, doesn’t it? #getoffyourhighhorse
The “world of want” is an immature perspective/stage of life. Sincerely the older, and dare I say “wiser,” you get the less you want and need. Learn to “need” the important stuff instead of the immaterial stuff that seems so sparkly for a moment, but can disappear in an instant
There’s a certain desperation with some parents for their kids to be popular. What these parents don’t realize is, their kids are only popular because their friends know there’s no adult supervision at parties.
Yay! Someone finally called the cops on one of the many parties my neighbors’ teenagers throw. Have found post-party beer cans in our yard for years and have complained numerous times about the noise and mess. So glad someone else has finally gotten fed up enough to take action!
Maybe something will actually change now. I would’ve thought that just after one episode of a neighbor finding beer bottles at my teenagers party, that might be a good time to put a stop to the parties. But no.
Freakin’ people setting off fireworks last night. Dec 23! Thanks for turning my dog into a shaking, scared pile of mush. Ya think ya can hold off this next week while my elderly mother is visiting?
Cutting a 6th grade student out of a costume dress in which the zipper was completely stuck around her neck… Definitely a new one for me. #musicteacherproblems
I resisted watching #madmen for 15 years, but curiosity finally won out. Although the misogyny is HARD to sit through, one surprise: it helps me better understand my mom’s handling of my dad, in the context of late 50’s/early 60’s relationships. Makes more sense now. 🫤
