@TBOSurito But in this case, the NC map was clearly based on race rather than party the first time it was struck down. They used the party claim to obfuscate. You know because the second map was expressly based on party and it looked much different and was somehow found acceptable

Democrats used to be the party of states' rights, small government, etc. Republicans used to be strong federal government, high immigration. Look up platforms from the late 1800s if you don't believe me. Both parties shifted a ton since then.
