Hi! I’m Gen and I’ve been working in the industry since 2003. I’m currently the studio art director at EA DICE. I wish I’d been exposed to seeing more women in games & in leadership positions when I started. I hope I can help make a difference.

@TheSpaceshipper tbh, I feel the same about opening titles (in general). They're basically all from the same cookie cutter nowadays and very, very literal. Yawn.
@Com_Raven Yeah it baffles me
Then everyone complains they're 2x, 3x or even 4x booked and can't manage their calendar.
It's weird - we switched to WFH/hybrid and this problem is a direct symptom of that, yet no one is working at finding solutions. They just pile it on like a competition.
When people carelessly send meeting invites without checking for availability 🫠
Special mention when then throw a fit when you reply you're not available and could they please reschedule and they make it sound like you're the one being difficult 💖
@darkosupe Tbh I don’t know! It’s my first winter here and I’m used to worse in Montreal 🥹
I just remember how hair would get little icicles when you breathe on it in cold weather. Probably worse also because the air is super dry.
The "Artists Guide to Eyebrows" video is now complete. This 60+ minute breakdown was supposed to be free, but I blew the budget on research papers & stock photos, and would love to attempt to break-even.

This is what cats' paws look like without fur.
The Sphynx is a breed of cat widely known for its lack of fur and it's possibly the best candidate to show the feline anatomy in absence of fur.

Fair, yet there is an important nuance to note.
It’s always going to be a rat race, and there are still plenty of people willing to take advantage of “passion”.
Continued learning, being open minded and adaptable is important.
And so is rest and taking care of oneself 👍
Many vets start new studios. I myself was part of such an initiative a while ago.
But being successful in making games in a big, oiled org is in no way a guarantee that you’ll be successful building a new studio & team.
Too many people underestimate this, and fail.
What the team over at Ascendant Studios did on Immortals of Aveum is an absolute feat & this kind of thing needs to be celebrated a lot, lot more than this silent dismissal.
The game does have some faults, sure. But none that are deal breakers. And for a first game? Stunning 👏
