i find it weird that nowadays young members of fandom, especially minors, are so comfortable insulting and witchhunting the older fans.
when i was a kid in fandom spaces, i remember holding so much admiration and respect for the older fans. after all, they kept it all going
Having MEMORY LOSS from depression and trauma is a weird experience because people don’t understand how scary it is when depression and trauma start affecting your memory. Like you really start forgetting whole moments of your life, conversations, things people told you, how you used to act, and even parts of yourself. It’s like your brain got so overwhelmed from surviving everything that it started deleting things just to protect you.
i miss the days you could say “he killed people and he looked good doing it” about your fav villain because now idiots will take you seriously and accuse you of being a murder apologist or something
baby neku looks so funny without the headphones (endeared). the way they relinquished him and unlocked this lucid-eyed curiosity and wonder, his renewed love for life...
I wish more people knew they didn't need to constantly be pumping out art and fics to be contributing to a fandom. You're contributing just by being here, vibing with us, sharing headcanons, leaving nice comments. You don't have to burn yourself out. Fandom is meant to be fun.
💯 every author begins at the start, and the only way to develop is to do it and keep doing it relentlessly. and if you, the one consuming, want to see those good fanworks, you'd better praise "bad" works because they could become your favorite creators one day.
bad writing is how you get good at writing. the more you discourage people from writing what they want or scare them about “fanfic prose” the more you are depriving the world of art. One cannot have their cake and eat it too. Go open that doc if you want good fanfic. Come on.
If you demand that fanfic should depict only healthy relationships, safe sex and pristine morals, then maybe you aren't ready to be reading fanfic. Do a little growing, learn to separate fiction from reality, then come back. Fic doesn't exist to build your moral framework for you
I could list so many manipulative tactics people use to try to convince others they're good, when if you were actually of pure intention and heart, you would not need to think you have to prove or defend yourself. goodness is not a performance; it's a way of being.
good people don't have to insist they're good. good people don't claim they are. good people prove their authenticity through actions, not self-proclamations, and build a reputation of authenticity that they become known for. they don't need to say anything bc they simply are.
