Dr Ajaz intern doc (21 batch) earning ₹12K/month contracts myocarditis on duty and dies serving the State. Prima facie, infection arose from patient contact. Shouldn’t the welfare state, under moral duty and Employees’Compensation Act, provide ex-gratia compensation to his family?
Thousands affected by the rains, and this is the conclusion he came up with. He looked at a natural disaster and somehow his first thought was, ‘How do i make this about women?’ At this point, if his tea gets cold he’ll probably blame a girl’s Instagram story.
TO THE OPEN MERIT STUDENTS IN J&K:
Today as the students in the entire country rejoice, and rightly so, I want to ask a question to our students in J&K:
Why were they taken for granted on the much graver and unjust issue of the New Reservation Policy?
Our politicians could go to Jantar Mantar but what did they deliver when it came to the issue of reservations in J&K?
Did they create sustained pressure on the Government? Did they devote themselves to this serious issue with seriousness of purpose?
Why did we fail to get justice on our issue?
Something to ponder upon.
If the Education Minister resigned over the NEET issue, when will Omar Abdullah resign over the reservation issue? Students have been waiting for a resolution for the past two years, but the issue still remains unresolved.
He should resign now
The NEET scam involved one section of the student community. That was enough to shake Delhi, enough to corner Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, until he resigned.
In J&K, the RESERVATION issue is not about one group. An entire future is being stolen. It is erasing an entire generation and deleting an entire community. And still, the NC government has no conscience, no urgency, and no shame. It refuses to even wake up.
Has power decided it will hear nothing except the language of hunger strikes and protests?
ANANTNAG GMC PACEMAKER CONTROVERSY"
While a Government-ordered investigation is still inconclusive and still in progress in the alleged irregularities in implantation of pacemakers at GMC Hospital Anantnag, facts grossly contrary to what was fed to media last week are now coming to fore. According to the officials holding the investigation, it has been noticed that normally two types of pacemaker implantations are available in the Government and private hospitals:
A) Dual Chamber
B) LBBAP
LBBAP is performed only at super speciality hospitals. The doctor in question is exceptionally competent in LBBAP procedures which he performed on several patients on their demand and request at GMC Hospital Anantnag. However, the concerned government agency (SHA) repeatedly rejected pre-authorization to all cases requiring LBBAP which costs ₹1.70 lakh each case. The agency insisted that under PMJAY-SEHAT only a Dual Chamber procedure, costing upto ₹1 lakh was authorised. Thereupon, some of the patients, including Peer Rafeeq Ahmad, whose son himself is a doctor and who offered to pay the extra amount of ₹70,000 voluntarily over an affidavit directly to the Government supplier under proper receipt on Transaction Management System, LBBAP was conducted on a number of such patients. It was fed to media that Peer Rafeeq was "forced to pay an extra amount of ₹70,000". Now the officials holding the investigation have come across affidavits making clear that those choosing and insisting on LBBAP have paid extra amount of ₹70,000 to the Government supplier out of their own volition and choice and without any coercion. It has become clear that no official, doctor or any other individual has taken any amount of "cut", "commission" or undue benefit.
Rather than selectively targetting an intervention cardiologist who didn't get any benefit from performing LBBAP instead of Dual Chamber, media should have been properly enlightened about the administrative lacuna and lapses. It should have questioned the SHA why the PM-guaranteed benefit, available upto ₹5 lakh a common family in J&K, should not be given to LBBAP cases if medically required and advised by cardiologists. It should have raised questions as to who would be responsible if anyone of the patients died whose pre-authorization at GMC Anantnag was outrightly rejected by SHA repeatedly.
Rather than feeding the media wrongly and targetting the doctors selectively on questionable grounds, Government should hold a transparent investigation with supervision of a panel of experienced and independent cardiologists, identity and remove all hassles and impediments created by clerks and sections of bureaucracy and extend full benefits to the patients as guaranteed by both, the PM and the CM, separately.
MBBS interns in Jammu & Kashmir work day & night for just ₹410/day majdoori.
While many states offer far better stipends -West Bengal & Odisha ~₹43k, Bihar ₹27k, Jharkhand ₹25k, Punjab ₹22k/month.
Why such a huge gap?
Why are RDA & JDA Jammu & Kashmir silent?
#MBBSInterns
MBBS interns in Jammu & Kashmir are being paid just ₹12,300/month. That’s nearly ₹400 a day for handling emergencies, ICU duties, labour rooms, wards, night shifts, and brutal 24–36 hour duties.
One of the LOWEST intern stipends in India.
Meanwhile, states like Assam & West Bengal are paying ₹30,000+.
For 3 YEARS, promises of stipend hikes have been made. For 3 YEARS, nothing has changed.
The system wants young doctors to work like machines, survive on peanuts, and stay silent.
Cheap labour in the name of “training” is exploitation.
Pay MBBS interns what they deserve.
