The Islamabad MoU was signed asymmetrically this week: pomp in Versailles, pomp in Tehran, alongside the G7. Before any of that, a UAE Royal Jet landed in Tehran. Unannounced. Cash on board. $3 billion of a $10 billion unlock. The only voice still clamoring:

The Israeli veto is louder than ever. It will lift too.

The resolution was always a double veto. Iran's lifted. Israel is in the line of fire and the subject of intense bargaining. The cabinet's victim posturing is theatre to inflate the ask.

One item has already been removed from the list: the Lebanon land grab. Washington pushed back hard.

The war of choice has an unpriced consequence. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt are assembling a quadrilateral defense pact, which some call a "Muslim NATO." The pact the war was meant to prevent was built by the war itself.

Trump: "They've been looking for this moment for 65 years." A Cuban-American congressman said the indictment gives Washington "the legal basis to go and remove" the 94-year-old. Is Castro the chip on the table, or the bag man who clears the board?

🇦🇪 A drone hit a generator at the UAE's Barakah nuclear plant on May 17. Two others intercepted. Three days earlier, Riyadh floated a Helsinki-style non-aggression pact between Gulf states and Iran. Europe warmed to it. The UAE went the other way. The drone did not target Barakah. It targeted the conversation around Barakah.

🇺🇦 Washington walked out of the trilateral Ukraine negotiations. Witkoff's Moscow trip on hold. Two weeks earlier, Putin called the war "coming to an end." PROBABLY this clears the deck for a frozen-conflict settlement: a DMZ, no victor declared, both sides selling a win-lose to their soldiers and base. The DMZ is the deal nobody wants, AND everybody can sell.
