the subject of my video is my pet chinchilla Totoro and a dissary mess of shoes with a monologue about an experience from my past layered over the Moesha background instrumental
I really feel like a pet parent third narrative is arising from mine, especially in the way the clips of my chinchilla intersect with the rest of the film
in SME #2 the repeated phrase "I loved it" after the lines of the recording I think drew attention to the abstractness of the words in monologue 2 #hwa6#voiceandattention
my experience as an upper class queer black man has been shaped by situations often leaving me floating in between communities or spaces where I'm "accepted" and as such sometimes I had my moments of bitchiness that was shaped by self protection and defensive concealment
all of high school, I don't think anybody could have put that into a movie just because of what an emotional rollercoaster it was. I feel that my story would probably make me the "hero" even though I've had plenty of "villain" moments too (i'm not perfect) #hwa6#invisibleframe
I think Jordan Peele's "Get Out" specifically when Chris's friend saves him in a cop car. He killed the white people trying to kill him, in the final scene a cop car arrives and we assume Chris (a black man) will be shot because that's a reality for black Americans #hwa6
The Emperor's New Groove: let's be real, Kuzco until the end of the movie was not a good emperor. Yzma wouldn't have been any better, but since Kuzco is the "good guy" the classism between the empire and the peasantry, perpetuated by him, is largely ignored #hwa6#moranarrative
I think I I realize how performance distorts the translated messaging of lies and digital content, I feel now that "truth" doesn't necessarily mean what's real but what is reality to different people- especially when we look at socialism #partonereflection#hwa6
I would say my lies (most of them) are like things I like just distorted, now some of the lies I told are completely absurd with no truth to them whatsoever #hwa6#maybemyliesweretrue
it wasn't that hard to lie, I'm a pretty good liar (and storyteller) so making up fibs might come a little more easily for me- I choose statements that have either have some semblance of truth in them, or just complete absurdities #hwa6#funhousemirrorfollowup
so yeah I never actually owned a television growing up, it was just that kinda thing my parents just never bothered to get y'know? I probably haven't seen most like major popular shows #hwa3#funhousemirror
