@JonathanYarwood Jonathan - it's an AI generated video as an FYI - never actually happened. Not to say there isn't pro-Messi ref bias but not to this level of egregiousness
@jacksettleman@csett13 It ended up being about 95% full. Energy was dead because South African basically decided they weren’t going to even try and score 75% of the time and just hold the ball with the keeper
@millfieldsports I think World Cup is maybe unique compared to other events. A lot people at this game (myself included) just wanted to go to a World Cup game live and are wearing the respective home kit and cheering for a good game. You see this a lot less in club soccer I feel
@RealPepeEscobar Offsides is with the second to last defender. 99/100 times that’s the keeper and a defender but in this case, the keeper was up so the defender that everyone thinks kept him onsides was the last defender. It should’ve been explained better on the broadcast but its the right call
@ScouTurk you are right - there are levels to this - one level is advancing to R32 and the other is a 2 game elimination with 0 goals vs inferior opponents :)
@willjohnsonbf1 I don't really understand this take. A similar analogy is time was put back on the clock in an NBA game due to a review and then a team scored a game winner. Same with thing with the NFL where things are auto reviewed in last 2 minutes. Similar challenges exist across all sports
@PFTCommenter Great start for the boys. The momentum to get the country united behind this team is key. I think our expectation should be round of 16 minimum at this stage if they can keep the quality up. Anything after that is gravy!
