As spied on activists, who are now core participants in the #spycops inquiry, our role is to expose the anti-democratic nature of UK’s secret political policing. So that the public can no longer be fooled by politicians & media claims that “things like that don’t happen here”…🧵
Lawful political, anti-racist, trade union, environmental & animal rights groups were infiltrated by #spycops, instructed by the upper echelons of the British state. The intelligence was used in party political campaigning & circulated to big business to #blacklist us…🧵
For clarity, protest is part of a healthy democracy, secret political policing is not and however reluctant he is to go there, chair of the #SpycopsInquiry Mitting is going to find this issue hard to avoid… 🧵
Political policing is anti-democratic. Evidence in this Tranche of the establishment targeting groups for ideological purposes, spying on MPs, spreading political misinformation to the Press & using #spycops reporting in Tory Party electioneering really drives that point home…🧵
On the nail, @DaveBlacklist on the refusal of the #spycops@ucpinquiry to address the fact that what the secret SDS unit did was political policing in the interest of the state and big business (I think that's called capitalism...)
Mitting’s Interim Report states that he:
“refrained from expressing any view about the proposition that the #spycops were one of the instruments set up by a conservative state to suppress the aspirations of those who wished to produce radical change by political means” …🧵
#Construction News article on Labour’s plans for construction. And the first thing they highlight is #blacklisting of union members.

5 days til #spycops inquiry hearings restart and #blacklisted#union activists have been sent a Penal Notice & Restriction Order, which states that we could face imprisonment if we talk to anyone about what is written in our police files - that still haven’t been disclosed to us.
After 8 years, just been told by our lawyers that the #spycops inquiry has suddenly discovered police reports on myself & other #blacklisted#union members. We still haven’t been sent the evidence: and hearings start in 10 days time.
Intentional cover up or just shambolic?
