CENTCOM has confirmed that US Navy and Air Force fighter jets struck ten Iranian military targets in and near the Strait of Hormuz, claiming retaliation for Iran’s drone attack on the M/T Kiku. This strikes at the heart of the MOU. It undermines paragraph 1 on the end of hostilities.

Washington will argue self-defence and claim Iran violated the rules first by attacking shipping. Tehran will argue that the United States has resumed direct military action and militarised the very corridor the MOU was designed to stabilise.
