Nearly half of Pakistan is facing insurgency; the other half is facing social and political collapse. Yet those in power only shed tears for faraway security concerns in other countries.

I’ve seen and read about corrupt, incompetent, even criminal, leaderships. But I have never seen or read about a leadership that holds so much contempt for its own people.

Which explains the extensive security protocols, the reluctance to appear in public, and the eagerness to jump at every opportunity for a foreign trip.

The only thing they despise more than the place they rule, is the people they rule.

The ruling elite doesn't want to spoil its "glorious" geopolitical relevance by the news of its horrific failures at home.

Forget about accountability, they lack even basic humanity.

For nearly 3 years former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been in a death cell, and from what the reports suggest, has gone blind in one eye due to torture at the hands of the current brutal military dictatorship in Pakistan. And for last 6 months especially he has been in total isolation facing psychological torture with no meetings with family.

This is how terrorists are treated in prison cells the way former Prime Minister, a Cricketing Hero, and someone who built cancer hospitals for the poorest in the country is being treated.

At the moment there is no proof of his life and has become a missing person by an illegitimate military regime. This unpopular regime is only able to maintain its grip on power through foreign endorsement and backing from Western liberal democracies, Arab Monarchies, and the US that find a compliant military dictator in Pakistan to be more useful than a stable and sovereign democracy.

The ultimate price of a dictatorship is paid by the 240 million people in the country.

One of the worst things we as pakistanis have done is become numb to injustice. We’ve grown so used to it that we barely react anymore whether it’s mandate being stolen, inflation, load shedding, no freedom of speech etc. And unfortunately, ghulam qaum ka koi mustaqbil nahi hota.
