Today is Rev. Jesse Jackson’s 79th birthday & I’m wondering when will his story be told. This man is literally walking history. From being on the scene when Dr. King was assassinated to running for president in 1988. His biopic would be wild 😭 @ava Let’s do this🙏🏾👀
How ironic is it that on this day in 1955, an all white jury acquitted Roy Bryant & JW Milam of murdering Emmett Till. History has a weird way of resurfacing, giving us a chance to get it right, and we keep... failing. 💔 #BreonnaTaylor#EmmettTill
I wondered what was said between #EmmettTill and his mother Mamie when they were reunited in heaven, so I wrote it. https://t.co/TSwgmJyOwK Today marks 65 years since his senseless murder & no justice. R.I.P. baby boy. We still fighting 🙏🏾

Today marks the beginning of the 15th anniversary of #HurricaneKatrina which resulted in 80% of NOLA being flooded & over 1800 deaths. R.I.P. to all the lives lost. For those whose lives were uprooted & couldn’t afford to return home, I hope you’re thriving & have found peace 🙏🏾
Tomorrow is the #BlackBookSwap in Chicago📚
How does this work? Simply bring the books you’re ready to let go of (written by Black authors) and leave with a book or two. It’s FREE. #Chicago

Yesterday I was at the home of Emmett Till working on an upcoming project. I’m sad to learn that the Till home sold for $47k in 2015 & was flipped and sold in 2016 to an investor from NJ for $175k. For $47k we could have preserved history & the last place Emmett called home 😰
On this day in 1893 Dr. Daniel Hale performed the first successful open heart surgery without anesthesia at Provident Hospital (founded by him in 1891) on the South side of Chicago. #BlackCitizensOfChicago
Remember how the morning of Juneteenth felt two weeks ago? Now take notice of how today feels like a regular-smegular day. That’s called progress.
We did it y’all 🖤❤️💚
