The world's biggest stage. An even bigger purpose. On July 19, the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Final Halftime Show is coming to New York New Jersey Stadium, featuring superstars @Madonna , @shakira , and @bts_bighit , curated by @coldplay ‘s Chris Martin!
A FIFA World Cup first, the Halftime Show supports the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, a landmark initiative working to raise $100 USD million to expand access to quality education and football for children around the world. Throughout the tournament, USD 1 from every ticket sold to FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches will be donated to the Fund.
Doesn't even have to be Shakespeare or Austen (or Tagore or Dostoyevsky).
There is more wisdom in Calvin & Hobbes than all self-help garbage put together.
Read as much fiction as possible. Read for fun. Read for the love of reading.
@urso_bruto@chapterlviii Agreed. I didn't mean vengeance as the theme but the journey which so much of media has tried to capture since then it's almost become a trope.
@arnav_kumar That's slightly harder but if I pause to think, I do love the absurdity of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series (try Going Postal or Guards! Guards!), basically a satire on the entire fantasy here. One more is anything by PG Woodehouse.
Cricket has become six-hitting contests on toy grounds while football’s biggest event feels more dystopian than festive at $2.3M a ticket.
Modern Entertainment, apparently.
A World Cup is made by fans. Many of the 48 participating countries will not have fans present at the world cup. There is a profound sadness to this. A USA World Cup should've been the biggest show of decades. It will now be the hollowest. And, to think, the LA Olympics is two short years away.

AI can be wonderful in the right places. Corporate being one of them. Never when you are reflecting on what you read, see or hear, writing personal notes for loved one; because you should only use AI when you want your voice to be part of a larger thing, not your own voice.
If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, your wedding vows (!), I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.
@MumbaiPolice@mybmc near phoenix palladium backside gate (chandelier Court area) these miscreants are bursting crackers at 1 am. Please take action immediately.
Yeah. The goal never came but very very promising start. Hopefully the attack will gel and Sesko especially will start getting on the score sheet. But Ugarte and Bayinder shows us where we are lacking. DM and GK are now key pain points if it wasn't already wellknown. #MUNARS
Even though we are losing, very promising. Our attack feels like it has proper bite, and only need a clinical finisher and luck. Goalkeeper 100% we have no one in the stable, and have to buy - only falling. Fingers crossed for the second half especially with Sesko on the bench.
@Naam_Hai_Bulla To be fair, Hulk and Thor are quite powerful in the power scaling, even on cosmic level. Nothing compared to Jean/Franklin. But yeah it's funny to know the biggest difference between Avengers and Justice league is one has the b list heroes while the other is basically the A list.
🖊️ New essay.
I write about death and Diogo Jota.
Even from afar, without knowing him or following his career with hawk eyes, the passing away of a newly-married man, a father of three, and a wonderful footballer left a bit of a knot in the stomach.

The concern is that such memories fade as the next generation comes in, so hope we climb up again to greatness soon. With City and Liverpool building new grounds for success, the shine of our multi decade triumph is under threat, but not extinguished. Yet. (2/2)
When people question the "pull" of a team that finished 15th last year and how we are able to attract people, it refuted the dreams and egos of players who have grown up with amazing memories of grandeur of the Old Trafford stage - and to be the symbol of resurrection. (1/2)
