I wanna talk about how proud seeing Chris Patrick make the XXL made me, as someone who’s been praising his music on this app for the last 5 years…
A thread 🧵
Ken Carson’s new album ‘xperiment’ is very likely gonna go down as one of the best albums of the year (to me).
It’s an acquired taste, but once you get it you get it. The production is amazing, and the songs flow together really well for a smooth listening experience.
This album sounds like a return to form after ‘more chaos’ which had some really high highs, but ultimately couldn’t deliver where ‘AGC’ did.
Ken switches it up just enough on this project to make it work. ‘Knocking’ was the perfect example of this, a more low key track that listeners probably wouldn’t associate Ken with. On ‘shadeson’ he says: “No matter what I make, they gon call it rage” which shows he’s aware and actively making an effort to try new things.
All in all, I think it’s a successful progression of Ken’s sound and his performance is more or less really good on these ear worm instrumentals, adding some standout bars and bringing his usual infectious energy (even outperforming Thug).
This album is going to get a LOT of spin from me

Tierra Whack on her friendship with Tyler, the Creator:
“Tyler gives great advice. He’s a busy, busy man—I’m just grateful I’m his friend. I was just talking to Yachty, too. He’s one of my best friends, and he put all of us together on his project for the song ‘T.D’ So that was a huge blessing—me, Tyler, Yachty, and ASAP Rocky.
You know Tyler is random. He’ll just be like, ‘Yo, don’t ever mess with your gap.’ I’ve thought about it in the past like, ‘Maybe I should get braces,’ but he has a gap too. So he’s like, ‘We gotta represent.’ I love that though, because it’s like, You know what? Tyler said no, so I’m not gonna do it.”

YG drops his new album with a 7min storytelling track ‘Tiffany’ that is sure to get people talking
The track tackles transphobia, mental health, gender identity, and masculinity
I was NOT expecting this when I clicked play but I appreciate YG engaging in a difficult conversation while bringing us into his world
🚨The producer of Fenix Flexin ‘RUBBERZ,’ Purps on the Beat, responds to whether or not the song is AI-generated🚨
He says the base vocals are Fenix and then he used pitch correction software similar to auto tune to perfect the vocals
“Technically it is AI…bc isn’t auto tune technically AI…You should use AI to help your songs, not like [generate a whole song]…I try to never use [generative AI].”
