In a deeply disturbing incident at the Titumir Sabhakaksha within the District Parishad premises in Barasat, North 24 Parganas, members of a Hindutva organization—under the banner of the lawyer's wing of the Hindu Jagaran Manch—reportedly took down the portrait of legendary freedom fighter Titumir following their event. They replaced it with portraits of Syama Prasad Mookerjee , while audaciously claiming to rename the hall after Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
​This arrogant act and blatant disrespect towards Titumir—a hero who gave his life fighting British colonial oppression—is utterly shameful and unacceptable. Distorting history and disrespecting true martyrs of India's freedom struggle to serve divisive motives must be condemned in the strongest possible terms!
