I had a classmate who hated modern movies, just couldn't stand 95% of movies made since the turn off the millennium and I feel like a lot of you would be happier if you admitted you were the same way instead of trying to come up with bespoke reasons to dislike every movie.
@AngryGamesInc And obviously the answers would be wildly different for a city based campaign vs. a spelljammer campaign, but if they just picked one(or preferably 3) and work out systems based on those systems, it would be a basis to work off of for other campaigns with different scales.
@AngryGamesInc I think that's the end result that I want, I just don't think you can get there without also having answers to questions like "how many months in game to get to level 10?" and "about how many miles will a group cover levelling from 5-8?"
@AngryGamesInc I have often wished that 5e had committed to an assumed scale(time and distance) for campaigns and spelled those assumptions out in the DMG. I think adjusting from a baseline would be much better than building it out from scratch for every campaign.
@jkimballcook I heard the exact same story about every non-catholic denomination (including us), which was that during the service, they'd close the blinds, turn off the lights, and, in these exact words every time "a man can lie with another man's wife."
Oh no, I'm emotionally attached to my wife! How will I go on knowing other men are less attracted to her than I am?
Your theory is dumb, your read on history is twisted and your vision is the good life is hollowed out by resentment.
Every time someone dunks on the Red Pill, I can pull up a book essay, post and tweet that shows them the exact thing they think they discovered
They don't know things. they don't read history, don't obsess over stats. The few data points they do see they forget. their entire world is driven by the consumption of foids complaining on Twitter
The thing is that those things are not and were not considered official doctrine (though I'll admit the line of official doctrine vs. Non official teaching is often blurrier than I would like.) they are extrapolations of and speculations about doctrine.
For every Mormon who says "we don't believe that either," I am further convinced that the LDS Church has significantly softened or reframed much of its bizarro historical teachings. I suspect that some genuinely don't know the full scope of their own religion.
It's either that, or they're liars.
@jkimballcook If it had been a result of calculation on Joseph Smith's part, it's obvious that that calculation was " how can I piss off every religion in existence?"
