The choice paralysis that comes with selecting a medical specialty is on another level. I feel like Sylvia Plath at the fig tree from The Bell Jar. #MedTwitter#MedStudentTwitter
Breaking News: Fully vaccinated people can have small gatherings indoors with other vaccinated people but should continue to wear masks in public, the CDC said. https://t.co/rNPo7PWu2e
Happy #SundayMorning Twitter family. Remember to take some time to take care of yourself today, recharge and reflect as you prepare to take on the the world this week.
Flu rates have been so low this flu season that I find myself questioning if we should really go back to a maskless way of life after everyone has got the COVID vaccine.
A 2-3 mo GRE, LSAT or MCAT prep course can’t fix 21 years of unequal schooling. Educators can’t expect Black, ESL, & inner-city students to get a perfect score bc they took a test prep course. The reality is many students who take them still don’t do well on these tests. 1/5🧵
We can’t fix structural issues without addressing the underlying assumptions and the thinking patterns that created these issues to begin with @JAMA_current@DrKatzNYCHH
@JAMA_current@DrKatzNYCHH I agree that “we can’t tell people what to think” but it’s impossible to address the policy and structural issues that contribute to racial disparities without changing the perspective of policy makers.
Inevitably a change in perspective requires a paradigm shift in thinking. Without that, the disparities that exist will continue to persist. @JAMA_current@DrKatzNYCHH
While the vaccination rates for COVID-19 continue to trend upwards, it’s too early to remove mask mandates. Doing so could give people a false sense of security and discourage mask wearing before herd immunity is reached. #MaskUpTexas
I didn’t think I’d ever imagine a day where I’d wake up to find Ambien trending. Anyway, here are some quick facts about the drug for people out there who are unfamiliar with it. #Ambien
“All I saw before me were acres of skin. It was like a farmer seeing field for the first time” - Albert Kligman. His very words as he looked at Black prisoners which he used in his unethical experiments. #MedTwitter#AcademicTwitter#HCLDR
We must reconsider certain honorifics in medicine, with Dr Albert Kligman as an example. We must send a message of inclusivity to fellow physicians, trainees, and patients, loud and clear, and embrace names that honor current values https://t.co/0AwnUY91gA
