@BMA_James_Steen@UnitedEnd1 If it makes you feel better then, yes the role wouldn't exist if they had trained enough Drs/nurses. And yet here we are with not enough staff. It takes years to train up Drs/Nurses. Why make the current situation a little more shit for patients and get rid of these support roles
@BMA_James_Steen@gmcuk I'm a PA and comfortable acknowledging if they had invested properly in the medical and nursing workforce then my role probably wouldn't exist. Sadly we are where we are. The debate should be how do we get through this workforce crisis in a way that provides best care for patient
@RoshanaMN Nope, introduced post WW2. Due to massive shortage of doctors in US at the time.... Kind of sounds similar to the problem the NHS is experiencing.
@mancunianmedic My child experienced something very similar at the age of 17. I informed the police. It was described as 'unsavoury but not illegal'. Sadly the law isn't doing what it's supposed to
@pinapolk@TomField25 @OmgItsTania Any FTP issues will have to be declared and investigated by the GMC upon regulation. Most definitely not perfect. And more needs to be done. Too many concerning assumptions being made on twitter. Not enough facts for this persecution by the court of public opinion.
@thegradmedic @LindseyBonnick Having gone through the responses in this tweet. It's largely negative. People are telling you it's inflammatory. It's not even leading to a meaningful debate. It has not added anything to the FPR campaign
@thegradmedic @LindseyBonnick Thanks for waiting. 'Will never fail to amaze me that a newly qualified nurse or physio, or paramedic in inner London will earn more than a newly qualified doctor in inner London.' Lose this wording with what you said in my previous comment then you'd be golden.
@MarkCheetham I'm a PA & agree this is a load of rubbish. There's no justification for the pay disparity. The issue is being in different pay streams. The only recourse is with the government. I appreciate the current impasse causes frustration and leads to lots of negativity on both sides
@veggieequallife It perpetuates the idea that this is a common view amongst PAs. Whilst insinuating our working conditions are great. We're so marginalised, no one cares about our working conditions. Then we have to see this constantly. I just don't see the same threads about Drs in the PA chats
@veggieequallife Nope, point not missed. Made up/exaggerated conversation to discuss doctors employment issues. So much of this anecdotal nonsense works people up and spews more hate for another role. I support FPR and better working conditions. This shite is just an attack
@HalimaKolo1 BMA is a union for doctors. Not a governing body. The GMC would be the governing body for Drs. PAs are managed on a voluntary register by the FPA. There is no formal union for PAs
@jasaunders90 we're not a threat. There's 3000 practicing PAs. With <1000 graduating each year Vs 10,000 medical students. We're the minority. 1 story about 1 PA explodes into this catastrophe where the NHS implodes. PAs want to help and want better working standards for all.
@FPARCP #MedTwitter I appreciate this is the sentiment from a demoralised workforce. This solves nothing. The standard of care for patients is abysmal right now. Who does this help? Warring professions isn't good for anyone
@IsMiseStiofan @Disgruntled_SHO @lorraine_hickey Very true, ~3000 PAs currently on voluntary register. There'll need to be 40k PAs before they make a significant contribution to the NHS. Which will take minimum of 10 years. Can understand concerns but don't see PAs having the numbers to dominate endoscopy lists for a while
@ASTC108@ollieburtonmed https://t.co/1maYnhsogJ unfortunately massive delays from government. Current timeline for completion is 2024. A role that was introduced too quickly without the essentials being in place.
@FPARCP lovely end to PA week. Can't say anything without every word being scrutinized. There's a difference between identifying issues with the PA role and wanting to destroy it's existence. https://t.co/ldJTMBePQ7
