@NormalcyParadox@TrashGir1 The new game is split between a remake of DR2, and a new storyline that branches off from DR2. The new storyline is the size a full length game.
So it’s both a remake and a new game.
@Arghast4@Swiftttt__@EGX001S Again, this is just nonsense.
It’s an illogical response to what I actually said.
It’s clear that this isn’t going anywhere though, so I’ll end it here.
@Arghast4@Swiftttt__@EGX001S I was more so referring to the translation as a whole when I said it was “solid”. Regarding Helios, I said that it works.
By which I mean that the feelings her character is supposed to give off are coming through, and she doesn’t feel out of place among the rest of the cast.
@Arghast4@Swiftttt__@EGX001S I’d say for the most part, yes.
Uma’s translation isn’t perfect, but it has generally been pretty solid. Helios has never come off as particularly out of place, so I’d say it works.
@Arghast4@Swiftttt__@EGX001S TBF, Uma’s setting is a non-specific, modern-esque timeframe with a pretty loose canon, so that kind of limitation doesn’t really exist.
@enkokishi@kingslayer253 No, Trails into Reverie serves as an Epilogue to both the Crossbell arc and Erebonia arc.
It serves a similar purpose to Sky 3rd, but as an epilogue to the entire first half of the series, rather than just one arc.
@ar0maniac@universetime_ I’d hesitate to call DD in particular “Apollo focused”.
He’s certainly an important character in that game, but I don’t think it’s to the extent that I’d call it “focused”
DD is, on the whole, more focused on Athena and Phoenix than Apollo.
SoJ is Apollo focused, however.
@ar0maniac@universetime_ TBF, I’d argue that the reason they feel like 3 separate stories is because they *are* 3 separate stories.
While the games obviously take place in the same continuity, them being considered a “trilogy” is largely retroactive.
@uiulex It’s not like I have any issues with Sub though, to be clear. I still enjoyed the Crossbell games, and got immersed in them.
It’s just that the immersion is deeper with the EN VAs for me.
@uiulex Can’t say I agree with CS’ VA-ing having ever been “bad”, although it is true that CS1’s VA-ing is the roughest of the entire arc’s. Even at worst it’s just okay.
IMO it’s still very charming overall though. And like I said, the growth is part of the appeal.
@uiulex Like I said though, for me, the preference for EN VA-ing is because I actually understand the language. Being able to comprehend what’s being said without reading it goes a long way for me.
The fact that it doesn’t match the IRL origin of the characters is largely a non-factor.
@uiulex As an aside, IMO the best character in Trails’ dub across the entire series is Rean.
Hearing how his voice grows over the course of the CS games + Reverie is fantastic, and his delivery is stellar all the way.
Reverie Rean’s vocal performance is something I absolutely love.
@uiulex On a personal level, it’s mostly for immersion’s sake.
Even a middling EN dub is more immersive to me than a well done JP dub, simply by virtue of me understanding the language.
Also, it helps that Trails has had consistently great EN voice acting in every game that has it.
@ArizonaKxller@fetwtconfession That’s kind of ironic, considering who made 3H, that description honestly fits 3H more than Engage.
To clarify though, I don’t dislike 3H, I just think that’s kind of funny.
