4 days of process stories about how the White House has been lying about the President’s health is not “winning the news cycle.” Running negative ads while your opponent is in the hospital is just a bad look
Don't confuse what I am saying.
I am not saying Donald Trump is going to win.
I am ONLY saying he WON the last four days of the news cycle AND got Joe Biden to suspend negative ads.
While he attacks and does fun drive and waves.

@arpankbarua The only hopeful part of that is “I will vote based on their qualifications” and given the qualifications of the people it looks like could get nominated, maybe just maybe Democrats can win the floor vote
Over the last century, America has defined itself by rising to meet existential challenges — and we have that opportunity once again. But we can’t just build back to the way things were before, we have to build back better.
Here’s my plan for how we’ll do it:
@arpankbarua I agree bigger change needs to happen, but I think blowing off good reforms and a moment of silence to acknowledge the tragic death of George Floyd that got us here as “all optics” is not the most productive discourse.
They literally announced today legislation to ban chokeholds, create a national database for police misconduct, ban the kind of no knock warrants that resulted in the killing of Breonna Taylor, and more
@arpankbarua A good example of this is in my town there is a community outreach center and that is funded by the police department, but is a place for community events to support children and families and also has helped build relationships between officers and the communities they serve.
@arpankbarua Reducing police budgets and militarization HAS to be part of the change right now. And we can actually make our communities safer by investing in those programs.
@arpankbarua I 100% agree that there needs to be a new wave of younger people in these positions. I think 2018 was big for young people getting into congress and hopefully in the next few years they can actually get higher postions.
@arpankbarua You’re definitely right that more action should have been done in the past. And Obama did try and promote more community policing practices, also the First Step act was mostly worked out under the Obama administration they just couldn’t get it through until 2017
@arpankbarua As far as the chokeholds I think a total ban is distinct from banning specific chokeholds bc officers are never trained to use any chokehold in the first place.
@arpankbarua There are most definitely larger reforms that need to happen, but they will need lots of time to implement them correctly. These are easy common sense policies that can be enacted now.
@arpankbarua I am interested to know why they chose to wear the kente cloth, but my point was that it’s not all optics. These reforms are not going to 100% solve racism or police brutality but they are important. It wasn’t just a photo op it was actual policy announcement to respond to events
@arpankbarua The second amendment was written for this exact scenario when the military overrides the states to shutdown dissent. But the NRA and Republicans won’t tell you that
