Hoping to do better in the upcoming activity, the persuasive speech. There are just a few days remaining for practise, and I'm hoping I'll be able to apply everything I learned in class previously.

The last debate of the semester, they were such a great experience. I've learned so much in the last few weeks. How to structure arguments, how to open a speech, how to rebut properly. It was a great learning opportunity.

Today I was reminded that it's important for the four group members to showcase different points of view and diverse ideas. Rebuttal is also to be done artfully, not just by throwing facts around and by arguing.

I felt today's debate to be a bit inconclusive. Yes, the past CSA has done a lot of work, but I feel the most work is done only before and just after the elections.

(cont) Other points, like the minimal scope of interdisc. research was also developed properly. At the end of the debate I was not left convinced if I was for or against the topic; a very strong point may be required to get me to lean toward one side.

Another debate, another experience. I being a dualite and having taken physics by choice, felt both sides had great points, but the thing that I agreed with was the problems they mentioned about the implementation.

While I'm more into theoretical physics, the various arguments of the against team made even me feel like I'm lacking in tech skills! (maybe I am!) Great work by both teams, but I'd like to believe my college has great tech culture either way!

The first debate of many more to come. It was great to see the different viewpoints of the second and fourth yearites regarding the tech culture of the college. Learned a lot by example, hoping to incorporate it all into my own debate.

Audience analysis decides what kind of persuasive speech you will have to deliver. Furthermore, Monroe's motivated sequence lets you properly organize your speech such that the audience is (hopefully) moved to action.

Persuading people one-on-one is a hard task already, but persuading a big audience? One has to follow tried and tested methods and adapt to the audience's needs to gain success.

Deciding on main points each with a few sub-points increases the clarity of the speech as well as contributes to the structure of the body. Saw a live example of these benefits today as Ameya constructed a good speech just by using points written on the board.

Organizing content for a speech gets rid of anxiety while performing it. Using the intro-body-conclusion method of organization increases retention among the audience.

The roleplay shown to us at the end of the class was amazing; it felt as though a real DISCO meeting was being screened. Not to mentioned the very well timed humor. All in all, it has set a very high bar for our own work, one we wish to replicate properly.

Today's class was fun. I talked about the possibility of living in the jungle for my impromptu speech. I was very comfortable in expressing my ideas about the topic, having read up on it before. Felt reluctant to leave the stage for the first time in a while!

A few speakers in today's class made great attempts at their impromptu speeches. I've taken mental notes about what they did right; the P.R.E.P method seems to work best for the very general topics.

Today's class gave me a good idea about what to do during my own impromptu speech on Friday. The various methods told to us by Ma'am have helped me during practice and I hope I can put them to use and perform well.

A great self introduction is a combination of a catchy start, a very relevant and descriptive body, and a memorable end. Arrived at these conclusions after listening to around 60 people's self introductions.

Heard so many more creative speeches in yet another class for the self introduction activity. There were some intros with great delivery, some with a lot of humor, but I enjoyed listening to everyone today.

Listening to others introduce themselves in very creative ways was also refreshing. I got to see new facets of my course mates' personality today, ones I probably would not have known if not for this activity.
