18 primary colleagues are @BlatchMill this afternoon to enhance their subject knowledge and practice in Geography. Led by Claire Harrington @blatchgeog#geography
Looking forward to welcoming prospective parents to our open evening tonight. Make sure you stop by the geography department who have lots of amazing Geographical challenges for you as well as examples of the wonderful work our Geogrpahers do in lesson! ๐
Physical Fieldwork completed. Students have shown great resilience in the rain and their work has been fantastic so far. Now onwards to the centre of Brighton to do some work on sustainability.
Day 1 of GCSE fieldwork with our year 10 geoggers. Currently investigating the process of Longshore Drift at Hove Beach. Grateful that the rain is stopping and the winds are calm!
Back at Blatch. Miss Sherwin and Mr Seltzer have had a lovely afternoon in the company of a brilliantly well behaved group of year 9s who asked fantastic, interesting questions. A fabulous trip all round.
Almost back at the marina. What a great experience seeing the wind farm up close (and in such glorious sunshine!). The views of Brighton on the way back to shore are stunning this afternoon.
Visiting the central power barge. All of the energy generated by the wind turbines is sent here via underwater cables. It is then sent to the land from Worthing to Bolney where it joins the National Grid #Rampion
Each blade is 55m long and weighs 12 tonnes! Our students have had a great discussion with our skipper about how this wind farm is both economically and environmentally sustainable.
