A Russian court has sentenced 70-year-old Ukrainian Svitlana Loi to 15 years in prison for transferring money to support Ukraine.
Svitlana is a resident of occupied Tokmak, Zaporizhzhia region. The Russian occupation "court" accused her of "high treason" over 24 donations totaling around $800 (33,000 UAH) to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On February 10, 2026, the illegal occupation "court" found her guilty and sentenced her to 15 years in prison.
On August 25, the court of appeal in Moscow confirmed the verdict. Before the decision was announced right in the courtroom, Svitlana sang the traditional Ukrainian "Song of the Rushnyk*" in front of the Russian judges.
*Rushnyk is an embroidered piece of cloth that is used during weddings and other significant events. It has deep symbolic meaning.
