What was he supposed to do, race in a car he knows will fail after every safety car?

@CFRacingF1 @GazzettaFerrari Well no they just know they will need to use at least one more engine this year, and of the remaining races Baku is typically pretty favorable for overtaking with the long straights. He said Lewis will take one too at some point so they just want to stagger them (maybe COTA?)

@Mete_Hristovski @CavalierRosso Yeah but they’ll probably want to stagger them so Charles and Lewis don’t take them at the same time. Might have had some driver input as to where based on what tracks they think are their best (Baku for Charles, COTA for Lewis I’d guess)

@Mete_Hristovski @CavalierRosso Probably because there’s still 9 races which would be pushing it for how long a team uses an engine (ideal amount is 6 races to avoid penalties), and Baku usually has a lot of overtakes so he should be able to make it back to decent points

@sabyasachi5 @ScuderiaFerrari @Charles_Leclerc Sometimes you gotta face the fact that there’s no miracle strategy that will solve all your problems. Quali was by far the biggest factor for this race, and the only reason the front positions changed at all was because lando got a bad break on the VSC timing.

@sabyasachi5 @ScuderiaFerrari @Charles_Leclerc Yeah when you start p5 on a track where you can’t overtake and all the underclass races had incidents it’s not a bad gamble to make. You are literally required to box him, if u do it in the early VSC u would go M and have to pit again losing time, stay out and hope u get lucky

@sabyasachi5 @ScuderiaFerrari @Charles_Leclerc Because he would’ve came out of the pits behind Russell, he was gaining 2 seconds a lap when Charles tires finally starting giving up

Without a VSC when lando was ~15 seconds back or a red flag anytime after that there was nothing to be gained by stopping earlier, might’ve well held some hope that an incident would give us an opportunity rather than solidifying a 4th place

@_mulatshawe_ @ScuderiaFerrari @Charles_Leclerc He hadn’t pitted yet so he would be disqualified if he didn’t use a 2nd tire compound. If they waited a lap longer he would’ve come out behind Russell in p5

@will091102 @ScuderiaFerrari @Charles_Leclerc There was literally no benefit to pitting him sooner, without VSC around lap 30 or so he still would’ve come out p4 and had no way of overtaking on this track. And without red flag until when they did it still would’ve been p4

@sabyasachi5 @ScuderiaFerrari @Charles_Leclerc What are you talking about, they had to pit when they did or they would’ve gotten overtaken by Russell. They held out as long as possible waiting for a red flag since there is basically nowhere to overtake on this track

@sabyasachi5 @ScuderiaFerrari @Charles_Leclerc To avoid disqualification? The strategy made sense, but was based on hoping for a VSC when lando was 15 seconds back or a red flag at the end. No other way they could’ve maximized his results since overtaking on this track basically proved to be impossible

@Red1931541 @shilreas Did you actually watch f1 then or are you just talking out your ass? In the 2 seasons they raced together the car was not capable of winning a championship and seb finished p5 and p13 in the championship (charles p4 and p8 since you clearly weren’t aware)
