@stefanjacobs@jeremymstamper If fascism is wanting women to be able to walk the street without having their faces burned, or ride a bus without having their throat slit, then I support it.
@bayyinaels@Kapoorsmy@harukaawake >>afterlife. Children need threat of punishment and hope of reward as motivation to act right, adults recognize that they should show consideration for others without that. The islamic (and more specifically arabic) world puts too much trust in imams.

@bayyinaels@Kapoorsmy@harukaawake I don't know, but I believe it has to do with the lack of separation of church & state. No one who seeks authority over others can be trusted, and when you concentrate secular & religious power into a single edifice, it provides more means for those type of people to retain>
@tanpukunokami To but it as simply as possible:
Japanese culture is exotic to us, while at the same time upholding values that we as Americans idolize, & having enough in common that we're interested instead of uncomfortable.
That's just the broadest stroke I could summarize it with fairly.
@necron_pog@Maiku167@brennusdamenace The point is, they aren't guidance given by god/allah. They are guidances given by ancient men that are colored by the society they lived in. The world is very different now, and so their opinions need to be evaluated to see if they're worthwhile.
@elitekafir Once someone attacks me with a weapon, all bets are off. Even if there isn't intent to kill, it's not hard to do. If she had hit him on the head or connected with his temple, he could be screwed for life.
@CallMe_Zyroo As a child, that if I talked back even slightly, I'd be beat. As a teenager, that apparently just because I was born white, I'm an irredeemable rapist and scumbag.
The biggest lesson though was that I can never trust anyone to be as loyal to me as I am to them.
Rant incoming -
It's funny how few Americans know this.
One of the most interesting things I learned traveling around the world is that most governments throughout most of time has stripped their subjects of as many weapons as they could get away with, circumstances permitting.
However humans still remain human, so they have duties to protect themselves, their loved ones, their neighbors etc etc etc.
That's why so many different people's across time and space have created different types of unarmed fighting (martial arts).
People in other countries know this history, but interestingly, they also believe that America has It's own form of Martial Arts - gunfighting.
And they are 100% right.
If I asked any American I grew up with what America's martial art was, they'd just look at me like I was stupid.
But gunfighting really truly is it for us and our people.
No other group of people throughout history have ever kept such advanced weapons and effectively prevented their governments from disarming them.
This is something Americans should know, and be proud of.
The official Martial Art of America is Gunfighting.

In Afghanistan, 2012, US Marine Lance Corporal Winder Perez took an RPG that punched through his thigh and stayed there, live, instead of detonating.
An Army MEDEVAC crew that had been told they were picking up an injured child landed, saw the round still stuck in him, and voted to fly him anyway, even though hauling unexploded ordnance is against the rules.
They made the careful run to FOB Edinburgh, where the rest of the base was held back and Navy Lt. Cmdr. James Gennari kept Perez breathing while Army EOD Staff Sgt. Ben Summerfield pulled the rocket free. Perez stayed conscious through it.
When Perez was told what was in his leg, he said “Cool.” He survived.
@JohnDoeTheDoe99@hikenmann@TheLaurenChen No, it's limiting the power of the federal government, which was the point when it was added in. Our founders rightly believed ANY government was susceptible to corrupt and put the best limits in place they could think of. It wasn't enough, but humans are innately corrupt.
@TheLaurenChen I mean, the judge isn't wrong. The Constitution & Bill of Rights limit the powers of the federal government on purpose. If you don't like it, introduce an amendment. If 75% of the country supports you, it'll change.
