@avygal Refusing to give an anorexic fuel for the fire is not enabling; it’s recognizing the issue without placing all the emphasis on their weight.

Harping on their weight makes it worse since many thrive off validation on how sick they look to others. You can point out other things.

If you were anorexic, surely you know this public examination of her thinness and the hand-wringing is just going to fuel her even more. It’s affirming. All of us loved hearing how concerning thin we looked.

Ariana and I are the same height.

28 years ago, when I was 14 years old, I was anorexic before I landed myself in the hospital and thankfully made a full recovery.

At 5’2” my lowest weight was 86lbs and I still wasn’t ANYWHERE NEAR this thin looking.

My guess is she is around 70-75lbs.

Someone needs to intervene immediately before she dies

@avygal Glad it didn’t trigger you to get worse, but common practice is that you don’t place a shitton of focus on, nor draw attention to, an anorexic person’s weight.

“Calling out” can very easily backfire and just make them relapse the second they’re not being monitored.
